Hello Readers,

While Hamburg has much to offer tourists, here are 3 activities that I found to be very enjoyable:

The free walking tour: Once again the free walking tour is an amazing way to start your explorations. I found this tour to be particularly interesting as it provided a great introduction to the history of Hamburg. A well versed tour guide will see you get a great overview of the shaky history of the city of Hamburg. The tour lasts approximately 3 hours and covers a large amount of ground. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes.

Cost: Free (tip recommended)

Reeperbahn: The Reeperbahn area is one of the major nightlife and redlight districts in Hamburg. It has many clubs, pubs and ‘adult venues’. Definitely worth having a night out here but I would recommend doing it with a friend. You shouldn’t have any troubles but it most certainly didn’t feel as safe as Amsterdam felt.

Cost: Beers €3.50 approx

St Nikolas Church: It’s worth taking the elevator from the base of St Nikolas Church to the top. The elevator will take you up to 75m high allowing you to see over most of Hamburg. From this height you are able to see some the most attractive buildings in Hamburg, such as the Town Hall, Pictured below.

Cost: €3.00

I have no doubt I missed numerous other worthy attractions but as you are aware there is only so much you can do each day.

Cheers,
ILY – Luke Hymann
